TIME
Series of web app for creating & conducting event to be used by organiser, event host, and event guest.
Responsive Web Application
Project Background
TIME Sdn Bhd is a well-known fixed line telecommunications provider in Malaysia since 2001. They also deliver pure fibre home broadband services at speeds of up to 1Gbps to consumers in Malaysia – the country’s fastest.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, TIME offers a full suite of domestic and international connectivity, and data centre solutions to the Wholesale, Enterprise and Retail markets.
My Role
As a UI/UX Designer, my main role is to design the best experience that supports both internal operator as well as the external party.
This includes deciding which data are the relevant ones, organising an interface that ease the work as well as creating a system that is smart to minimise work error.
Target Audience
The target audience for this are divided into 2 because we built the internal event administratot website as well as event guest's website.
-
The Event Administrator (TIME staff, aged 25 to 45, male and female)
-
The Event Guest (male and female aged 18 to 45. Works in the companies associated with TIME)
The Problem
“How can we create an ecosystem that seamlessly engage data from the event guest, the event organiser, and the event host while at the same time create the maximum interface and experience that pleases all three different user roles?”
The Solution
A set of web application that connects to the real time data for full control and stability. This set of web applications also capture, record data, and gives analytics for creating a better event in the future.
User Research
In this project, the best method or user research is the interview qualitative method. We are grateful to have TIME staff to participate in our interviews. Here are some of the questions asked:
-
Can you describe how do you create an event?
-
Could you elaborate why you feel this process is frustrating?
-
After the event ends, what would you like to know in order to measure the event's success?
-
How is the process when the event started?

And the answers to our interview questions are:
-
We would make a spreadsheet of the guests list of this event and send bulk email to invite them.
-
It is frustrating because the process is very manual and we have to rely on one person. It's chaotic when that person is sick or unable to work.
-
After the event ends, we would like to see how many of the invited people are actually came. We then gather the contact number of the guests so that we can inform them on the next event.
-
When event started, our team would print the spreadsheet and pay greet the guest. When the guest arrived, we would mark their name.
Challenges
-
A very short time frame for design & development (2 months). Therefore, user interface design should be made simple to be developed.
-
Little budget and time for user research. Therefore, user research method must be the one that can give the fastest result and the least amount of money to spend.
-
With the pandemic and continuous lockdown in many states of Malaysia, event that takes place in physical location is not possible to be held for a long period of time.
Chalenges Solved
-
A thorough study on the framework component. Integrating with graphic designer (Wei Xing Hoo) to create the most impactful color, effect, and images.
-
For this project, qualitative research is the most efficient and affordable one with research participants are TIME and Snappymob (my company) employees.
-
This system is designed to ensure that it's capable of handling virtual as well as physical event.
Conclusion
Throughout this process, I learned a lot of valuable insights on how the event is managed in TIME and it's great that they can now have better productivity and work quality with the event management admin console.
