99 Speedmart is a mini-mart located all over Malaysia. This mini-mart sells everything you need at the price you might really love. It is kind of like 7Eleven but without any cafe or any seating place. It also doesn't serve any food or beverages, as far as I know. But even without those disadvantages, I still LOVE to shop in 99 Speedmart!
1. The prices are so affordable!
The reason why I choose 99 Speedmart over any other mini-mart is that it always has a good price. Most of the items I bought in 99 Speedmart are generally cheaper than the promotional price supermarkets/hypermarkets have. Looking for anything? You can never be ripped off when you buy it in 99 Speedmart!
2. They have everything
I can really find almost anything I want to find in 99 Speedmart! They carry so many brands and many types of items you usually look for. From snacks, sweets, stationery, drugs, vitamins, to formula milk. Looking for screws and other hardware stuff? 99 Speedmart got it! Looking for some towel? They got it. What about shoes or slippers? Yes, got that too! I feel like 99 Speedmart got anything in this universe.
3. Some outlets have no parking fee
I don't actually drive but I think this will be great for those of you who drive. Most outlets of 99 Speedmart have no parking fee. They are mostly located on the shop lots complex and therefore most of them have no parking fee. I did encounter a few shop lots complex that charges parking. But they are not that many compared to when you go to the supermarket that is located in the mall.
4. They Support Many Payment Methods
They might be mini, but don't let their mini shop make you think they are operating in cash only. They support not only cash but also cards and eWallets (Boost, GRAB Pay, etc.). Don't bring cash? Don't worry, you can pay with your phone too! I love it especially because I use GRAB Pay a lot and I can collect points from my purchase in 99 Speedmart!
5. They Have Services Too!
Do you need to buy groceries and at the same time do some services? Most 99 Speedmart outlets offer parcel drop-off (Pgeon), Mobile phone top-ups, bill payments (water, electricity, TV-Cable) Touch n Go Card Reload, and even buying game credit! So while you get groceries, you can also do some errands!
However, 99 Speedmart may not be for you if:
You are looking for organic items. So far, I have rarely seen organic produce from 99 Speedmart
You are looking for an imported brand that is rarely sold in Malaysia
You are looking for fresh produce
You are looking for premium luxury items
You wanted to buy meals or being served coffee/any other beverages
You are looking for a niche item
If you just started to live in Malaysia and encountered one of the 99 Speedmart outlets, go inside! You'll get almost anything you need there, and you are most probably going to like it there!
